About this tour

When Tom from our team took this private speedboat out along the Croatian coast, we found a genuinely comfortable way to island-hop without the tour-bus crowds. The boat's got proper lounging space — cushioned seating fore and aft, a shaded stern, working sound system — and you're free to set your own pace between caves, beaches, and snorkelling spots. Depending on how many hours you book (2 to 8), you'll cover different stretches of coastline, with cold drinks and quality snorkelling kit thrown in. It's the kind of thing that feels indulgent without feeling pretentious, especially if you're splitting costs across a few mates.

Highlights

  • Cushioned loungers on both bow and stern decks
  • Quiet enough to actually hear the water and crew
  • Snorkelling gear included; no rental hassle
  • Cold beer and wine on tap, not just warm water
  • Flexibility to linger at caves or beaches without time pressure
  • Shade available — crucial in Croatian summer heat
  • Small group feels genuinely private, not herded
  • Sound system doesn't overpower conversation

What to expect

Tom booked a full day and we motored out early to beat the midday crowds at popular spots. The boat handles smoothly, crew knows the quieter coves, and there's genuinely nowhere you're forced to be at a set time. You'll move between three or four locations — caves worth poking into, rocky beach stretches for jumping in, shallow reefs for snorkelling. The snorkelling kit is solid, though it's basic stuff, so don't expect underwater photography gear.

Pacing-wise, it's relaxed. You spend maybe 45 minutes cruising, then an hour or two anchored at a swim spot. Water temperature is warm enough to stay in for hours. The sun's relentless though, so that shade cover earns its place. Crew sorts drinks, keeps an eye out for marine life, and generally stays out of your way unless you need something.

Good to know

The good

If you want to see the Croatian islands without signing up for a 40-person coach tour, this hits the spot. The boat's actually comfortable for a full day — not a cramped fishing vessel. Snorkelling gear included saves cash and faff. Beer and wine are real drinks, cold. Works brilliantly for small groups or couples wanting to move at their own rhythm.

The not-so-good

Lunch isn't included, so you'll need to sort snacks beforehand or eat ashore at inflated tourist prices. Fuel surcharges apply for longer trips, pushing costs up. No towels onboard, so bring your own. It's a boat in full sun — not recommended if you're pregnant or have heart or cardiovascular concerns. Peak season (July–August) means you'll still share popular snorkelling spots with other boats, just fewer of them. Expect to walk onto the boat; no wheelchair access mentioned. Public transport to the departure point exists but isn't seamless.
