Sailing Day Tour with skipper and private chef in Kas Islands

About this tour

When Jake from our BugBitten team took this private sailing tour out of Kas, Turkey, we found it a genuinely relaxed way to see the islands without needing any prior sailing chops. You're aboard a proper 48-foot Beneteau with a dedicated skipper and onboard chef — so it's just your crew, the boat, and the Aegean for 7–8 hours. The boat launches daily from Kas Marina, and the whole thing runs all-inclusive: lunch, snorkelling kit, SUP boards, even a GoPro to grab footage. It's the kind of day where you can learn to sail if you want, or simply sit back and let someone else do the work whilst you eat and float between swimming stops.

Highlights

  • Private 48-foot yacht — no strangers, no crowds, just your group
  • Onboard chef prepares lunch whilst you sail and swim
  • Snorkelling gear and SUP boards included; Kas Islands reefs don't disappoint
  • Skipper handles everything; zero sailing experience needed
  • GoPro loan means you've got footage without lugging your own kit
  • Morning coffee and tea flow before the action starts
  • Anchor in quiet bays; long stretches of nothing but water and silence
  • Accessible for wheelchair users and families with small children

What to expect

You'll meet the skipper at Kas Marina in the early morning, then motor or sail depending on wind. The boat's roomy enough that you won't feel cramped, and the chef gets busy in the galley whilst you're out on deck or below. Around midday you'll anchor at a bay — clear enough to see the seabed — and that's when the snorkelling and SUP happen. Lunch is served on deck or inside depending on weather. The pace is genuinely unhurried; there's no schedule pressure, just "sail, swim, eat, repeat." If you want to take the wheel and learn the basics, the skipper will walk you through it. The Kas Islands themselves are rocky and quiet, with nobody else around once you're away from the marina.

Jake found the onboard catering a real highlight — home-cooked rather than packed-lunch standard. The Aegean in summer is warm enough that even weak swimmers felt safe snorkelling in the shallows. The main rhythm is morning sail, midday anchor-and-swim, afternoon return to port. You're back by late afternoon, not wrecked.

Good to know

The good

This is a proper private experience without the "activity tour" feel. Families love it because kids can swim, snorkel, and paddle on the SUP without worrying about a group of 30. If you're keen to learn sailing, you'll get genuine instruction from someone who knows the boat. The chef angle means you're eating properly, not surviving on crisps. Wheelchair users and families with prams are fully catered for — all areas are accessible.

The not-so-good

You'll be on the water for 7–8 hours, so bring sunscreen and a hat; the Aegean sun is fierce. Drinks aren't included, so budget for wine or beer if you want them. There's a fair bit of time at sea, so if you're prone to seasickness, take precautions. Hotel transfers aren't part of the deal, so arrange your own transport to Kas Marina. Not ideal for anyone with serious heart or circulation issues — talk to the operator first. Peak season (June–August) books fast.

Practical info

Bring swimwear, towel, sunscreen, and a waterproof bag. The GoPro is there if you want it; your own camera gear is fine too. Group size is just your party — family or friends. No kids-only restriction, but children must have an adult with them at all times.
